Monica and John are Married – Ottawa Wedding Photographer

Wednesday, June 6th, 2012

On a very beautiful Saturday afternoon in May, Monica and John were married at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Ottawa. Family and friends filled the church to witness their union. We first met Monica and John back in April for their engagement shoot and could see how in love they were. To actually be there on the day was such a blessing, to watch John so excited and filled with emotion waiting for Monica to arrive was just wonderful. Best Man, Will was truly amazing, keeping everything together for the guys and deserves a little shout out for being so great to John on his big day.

The Maid of Honor and Bridesmaids all picked out their own shoes to match Monica’s Barbie shoes, in hot pink. I just loved them all. Stunning Ladies, just stunning!

And then we have the Men. I mentioned before John was in the military as were two of his groomsmen, this made for some interesting and fun commentary throughout the day. And his older brother made up the third, so proud of his younger brother.

The reception was held at the Canadian War Museum and what an amazing job they did. Monica had everything prepared just right there was a cocktail reception and buffet, a candy bar and cake. Just a few touches turned the War Museum into an elegant wedding affair, service was excellent and the bride and groom were both very happy. Nothing like the sun setting over the Ottawa River on the evening of your wedding.

We received special permission to head down to the tank room for a few photos. We just couldn’t resist given John and Monica’s family history in the Military. It is not every day that you get the opportunity to be photographed with pieces of Canadian Military History.

An evening of beautiful speeches from both John and Monica’s parents. I believe both the father of the Bride and the Father of the Groom had everyone in the room in tears with their tributes to their children. There is no question that they are both loved and in love and what an amazing way to start your life together.

Congratulations to Monica and John, wishing you many, many happy years together. Thank you for the opportunity to capture your day.

The Yacht Style Shoot – Ottawa Wedding Photographer

Tuesday, April 24th, 2012

This Yacht Style Shoot was inspired by my love of the beach and Wendy, from Beyond Events, fabulous idea that a Yacht would add so much more to what we had in mind. We could not have asked for a more beautiful day nor a more perfect location. I am only sorry that I didn’t have this for my own wedding thirteen years ago.

Soft pinks and Golds together with the gorgeous back drop of Ivy Lea, Ontario on this beautiful yacht. You can just imagine the bride and groom together for their first dinner as a married couple, with the sun setting over the water and a view to take your breath away. Wendy and I wanted to showcase some of Ashton Station Bridal’s beautiful Rivini dresses in a destination style wedding, without traveling to a destination far away. Ivy Lea is located in the heart of the 1000 Islands, Canada. If you were looking for a destination feel to your wedding you don’t have to look much further than a short drive from Ottawa.

Engaged – Ottawa Wedding Photographer

Wednesday, April 11th, 2012

I was contacted late last Summer to photograph the Spring wedding of Monica and John. As we were winding up one of my favorite seasons and heading into Winter, we decided that we should wait for Spring for the Engagement session, since all of us already had a very busy Fall planned with school, training and work.  And I am so happy we waited. We had such a beautiful day, even if it was a tad bit chilly. They sun was out and shining on us and we had lots of fun traipsing through the Market.

John is in the Military so we decided to start out at the National Peace Keeping Monument. A lovely spot to photograph as well as reflect. This shoot was all about them and the fact that their wedding is just a few short weeks away now. I find that when you ask the Groom -to-be if they are excited about the upcoming wedding, most of the time, they play it down even if you can see the excitement in their eyes. Not John, he was right there declaring how excited he was to marry Monica, a man very much in love.

M&J Engagement1
The plans are all coming together nicely, Monica and I have met a few times now and I have to say that she is one of the calmest Brides-to-be that I have ever met. I think it is safe to say that Monica and John are very well matched and I am looking forward to their Wedding Day very much.
M&J Engagement2
As we were walking through the market, I kept looking for the perfect patio to borrow. In my mind I could see Monica and John sitting at a patio chatting and having a lovely time together. We chose the Heart & Crown, mostly because it was easily accessible. They were talking and laughing and I was  far away from them getting some fabulous shots. After we were finished there was a little bit of a debate going on. Was this where they first met? or was it further down the street? Monica was sure that it was Heart & Crown, John not so much. But as the details unraveled it would appear that Monica was right and they did indeed meet outside the Heart & Crown, not far from where they were sitting on the patio. John was quick to admit that Monica was indeed right, once the details were all remembered. I was so thrilled that we happened to pick the spot that they first met for part of our shoot, it brought out some smiles and stories and is now documented for them and will now always be remembered.

Monica and John, thank you for choosing me to be your Wedding Photographer, it is an honor for me and I look forward to capturing your day and all of its details for you both. I truly enjoyed meeting with you and seeing just how much in love you are. Your love radiates from both of you and I look forward to capturing it on your Wedding Day.

T & V are Married – Ottawa Wedding Photographer

Monday, October 31st, 2011

I had the utmost pleasure to capture this very special day for T &V. We had a beautiful Fall day for the wedding, not too cool but sunny and colourful. The couple has been planning this event for quite some time bringing together family and friends from near and far. They wanted their day to celebrate their lives together as a Family in their own unique way. Small touches of Canadiana could be seen in the food, the decor and the favors, as the Groom is from New Jersey and for many of his family this was their first trip to Ottawa.

Both the ceremony and reception were held at the Cordon Bleu Bistro @ Signatures on Laurier Avenue in Ottawa. What an amazing venue, fabulous wait staff and delicious food. The rooms are luxurious and elegant and have the old world charm of tall ceilings and fireplaces in every room. The ceremony took place in a room just of the Grand Staircase, where guests looked on from the balcony and another small room off to the side. After the ceremony we were able to bring the guests out onto the patio for some photos, then cross the street to Strathcona Park with just the Bride and Groom. Cocktails were held in the pub room and hors d’oeuvres were passed around.  Dinner was served in one of the dining rooms, and another was turned into a dance floor for after dinner.

Sam & Ashley are Married – Ottawa Wedding Photographer

Tuesday, July 26th, 2011

I have been eagerly awaiting the Bride and Groom’s return from their Honeymoon to share this sneak peek with you. Welcome home Sam and Ashley, here is a little snippet from your day to welcome you home.

After a year and a half of planning and preparations the day had finally arrived for Sam and Ashley to get married.  Ashley was the perfect bride, she showed her calm nature while getting things ready, but admitted that she would get butterflies every now and then.  As the morning went on and Ashley was ready to get into her dress, the first show of tears approached, her long awaited, well planned day was here. And WOW, she looked fabulous!

The Groomsmen were ready to roll bright and early, quite a surprise as the guys are usually the last ones getting their suits on. Sam was looking fine and very excited to marry Ashley later in the afternoon.  I do have to say that the men looked so fabulous and held up extremely well considering the wedding took place on one of the hottest Saturdays of the summer.

Everyone was on time for the ceremony at the Church.  St. Anthony’s was full with family and friends of the Bride and Groom, all of whom came out to witness their joining together. Braving the heat of the day was well worth seeing the tears of Joy on Sam’s face as his Bride emerged at the back of the Church. Ashley was escorted down the aisle by her Dad, who couldn’t be happier for his Daughter.

I wish you many Blessings over the years and I look forward to sharing the rest of your photos with you.  And a huge thank you to Cherie-Lynn, for shooting second with me and keeping me cool on a rather hot and sweltering day.

The Sneak Peek wouldn’t be complete without a quick look at the some of the details Ashly spent a year and a half working on.
